Prayers for the Church
Father,
We draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive not only mercy to pardon, but grace to help in every time of need. (Heb. 4:16)
We ask for your grace to be sufficient for us, let your power be made perfect in our weakness. (2 Cor. 12:9-10)
We are daily tempted to trust ourselves to our own good works, but any good that comes from us is a gift of your grace to us. So, help us to daily turn to you in need and dependence.
Prayers for Members
Father, we pray for ___ and ___ ___. Thank you for their example of faithfulness to our church. We pray for ___ sister, that she would trust in Jesus Christ as her savior. Use ___ and ___ to share the gospel with her.
We pray for our sister, ___ ___, as she continues to stay with her daughter in Louisiana. As she endures upcoming medical procedures we ask for success and we pray that though she is not with us in person, that she would know the love of her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Prayers for the Lost
Your Word says you desire for all people to be saved, and so, Father, we pray for the nations, that they might come to the knowledge of the truth and of Jesus Christ (1 Tim. 2:3-4) who gave himself a ransom for all. (1 Tim. 2:6)
Lord God, we lift up the people of Algeria, most of whom do not know or trust in you. We thank you for the growth of the church in that nation, but we also know many Christians are persecuted as the church grows. Supply the needs of those who are suffering for the sake of Christ in that land, and may persecution only serve to multiply your witness.
We pray for Andorra, on the northern border of Spain. From the rising of the Sun over the largest ocean, to the setting of the Sun over the smallest nation, we pray that your gospel and your Christ would reign. Strengthen the few churches in that nation to declare the excellencies of Christ.
Prayers for those in Authority
You have set many rulers, authorities, and administrators over us in this nation. Father, teach out elders wisdom, and counsel our counselors. (Ps. 105:22)vGive them a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Make our governors, mayors, and town counselors delight to fear you. Make our school board members, our police chiefs, and even local librarians know their solemn obligation to recognize and honor you in their appointed roles. (Isa. 11:2-3)
Prayers for Churches & Missionaries
Thank you for the ministry of Oakhurst Baptist Church in Charlotte and their pastor Dave Russell. As he completes a Summer sabbatical, may you refresh his soul and prepare him to reenter the pulpit with passion, the counseling room with compassion, and may this season of rest produce endurance for the years to come.
We praise you for Northside Baptist in Rock Hill and her pastor Scott Davis. As he preaches this morning, may he rightly handle the Word of truth, and equip him by your Spirit to preach boldly. (Eph. 6:19-20) Make the believers there sound in the faith (Titus 1:13)
We rejoice with our brother Nigussie Yadete in Addis Ababa, and his new church Christ Covenant. We pray for the two young men they have training to become pastors. In the coming years, may you multiply your church in and around Addis. Multiply your ministers and missionaries there.
Offering
And as we now give our offerings, help us see our own dollars and cents travelling to the ends of the earth, planting churches, supporting workers, strengthening our own church and the ministries we offer to our own community. And as you increase us, we pray that we would increase in our own generosity.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
