Lord God,
We recount all of your faithfulness to us; your mighty power that you have displayed over and over in our lives. You have made us in your image and likeness (Genesis 1:27) and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
And you have been faithful to preserve us all the days of our life. We lay down and sleep each night for you, Lord, make us to dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)
More times than we can count, you have delivered us from death, dried our eyes from tears, and kept our feet from stumbling. (Psalm 116:8)
And while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, that we might be reconciled to you by the death of your Son. (Romans 5:8, 10) Thank you that Christ tasted death for everyone (Hebrews 2:9) that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death. (Hebrews 2:14)
Prayers for the Church (Members)
Father, we know you have perfect knowledge of all our lives. You see every struggle. You know every confusion. You are keenly aware of all our temptations. There isn’t a hardship in our church, O Lord, that isn’t known to you.
We know that we are born to trouble just as the sparks fly upward (Job 5:7) but we also know that you are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our troubles. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
Where we are perplexed, give us wisdom. Where anxious, let us not be crushed or driven to despair (2 Corinthians 4:8) Be our dwelling place. Hold us in your everlasting arms. Cause us to rest in your strength (Deut. 33:27)
When we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, be with us, that we might fear no evil. (Psalm 23:4)
Prayers for the Lost (& Churches & Missionaries)
Father, we long for the day when your glory covers the earth as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:9) So, add to your church day by day those who are being saved. (Acts 2:47) May those who dwell in darkness see the great light of Christ. (Matthew 4:16)
We pray for Seven Oaks Church in Belmont and their pastor Adam Mehaffey. Father, give them more Christians who desire to teach your word to others. Pour out your favor on their gatherings. Make them effective for your kingdom in our own city.
Prayers for those in Authority
Lord God, we pray for our nation. Restore us to yourself, O Lord God of heaven. Let your face shine on America, that we may be saved. (Psalm 80:2-3) You have given us so much, yet we confess that we have forgotten you days without number (Jeremiah 2:32)
Let the evil of the wicked come to an end in our nation. Establish your righteousness. (Psalm 7:9) Stir up the Christians of this nation to rise up for you, and to stand against evil and evildoers. Give us courage. (Psalm 94:16)
And give our rulers your justice, O God, that they may defend the cause of the poor, deliver the needy, and crush those who do evil. (Psalm 72:4) Counsel our counselors, and teach our rulers wisdom (Psalm 105:22)
Prayer for the Offering
And as we come now to give your offerings, do for us far more abundantly than all we are able to ask of think. (Ephesians 3:20) You church has many needs. There are more people who need to hear the gospel of Christ. More children to be discipled. More missionaries to be trained, and pastors to be sent. Make us all faithful to your church. And supply all our needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
For your glory and our joy, we ask all these things in Christ’s name.
Amen.
