Pastoral Prayer – 7/6/2025

Prayers for the Church

Our Father,

You are the God of hope. So fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that by your Spirit, we may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13) You will not abandon us to the grave but have already ransomed us with the blood of Christ.

Prayers for Members

Father, we thank you for our members, ____ and ______ ________. May your grace be upon their home, their son and their grandchildren. Let your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) We thank you as well for _______ and ________ _________. We lift up _______ mother and her continued health. We pray for their children and grandchildren as well.

Father, use both of these families to minister your good law and gospel in their homes, and may their children rise up and call them blessed. (Proverbs 31:28)

Prayers for the Lost

Lord God, we pray the gospel be proclaimed to the whole creation. (Mark 16:15) We know that the nations cannot believe in you if they have not heard of you and they cannot hear without someone preaching, and no one will preach unless they are sent. (Romans 10:14-15) So we ask Father, call out from our congregation pastors and missionaries who will go to the nations.

We thank you for calling ________ _________ to preach this morning at Cedar Lake Camp. We marvel that a young child who was baptized in this church is now opening and declaring the Word of God in a pulpit. Father, may you add to his number, and as he preaches, draw sinners to repentance and faith in Christ.

Prayers for those in Authority

Father, for 249 years our nation has existed by your sovereign and providential hand. We thank you for America, and we pray that peace would be within our borders and security from those who hate us. (Psalm 122:7)

Give to our nation a sense of moral understanding and a hunger for truth and righteousness. Cause many to rise up for you against the wicked and to stand up for you against evildoers. (Psalm 94:16)

Prayers for Churches & Missionaries

Father, we lift up Bethel Baptist Church and especially one of her members, _________ __________, a young lady who is battling the final stages of leukemia. Many at Bethel are sorrowing this morning and need the comfort that only you and your gospel can bring. Father, we ask that if it be you will, heal ______. And if you should choose to take her soul out of this world now, we ask that you use even her death as a means to reach others with the hope of the gospel.

We pray for their pastors, Kirby and Drew. Fill them with your Spirit as they minister to their flock.

Thanksgiving

We praise you for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14) You have formed us for yourself, that we might declare your praise. (Isaiah 43:21) Truly everything we are, and everything we have, belong to you.

We offer this prayer, even as we pray the words your Son taught us to pray, when he said:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
